What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is a medical rehabilitation branch used to treat diseases, injuries, and neurological
disorders that affect the body's functions. Physical therapy helps a patient regain their body functions,
increase muscle strength, improve mobility, and reduce pain. Physical therapy techniques include exercises,
manual therapy, electrotherapy, heat-cold therapy, ultrasound, laser therapy, and hydrotherapy. Physical
therapy provides a wide range of services, including musculoskeletal disorders, neurological disorders,
cardiovascular diseases, respiratory problems, and cancer.
What Diseases are Treated with Physical Therapy?
- Musculoskeletal disorders: Back pain, neck pain, knee pain, hip pain, arthritis, osteoporosis,
fibromyalgia, scoliosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, muscle weakness, muscle stiffness, and injuries such as
fractures and sprains.
- Neurological disorders: Stroke, MS (multiple sclerosis), brain injury, nerve damage, Parkinson's
disease,
cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, migraines, and other headaches.
- Cardiovascular diseases: Rehabilitation after a heart attack, coronary artery disease, hypertension,
heart failure.
- Respiratory problems: Asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), bronchitis, emphysema.

such as fatigue, pain, and decreased mobility.
- Pregnancy: Physical therapy can be used to treat back pain, swelling, and other pregnancy-related
problems.
- Urinary and bowel problems: Incontinence (urinary incontinence), constipation, bladder emptying
problems,
urinary tract infections.
This is just a sample of the many diseases that can be treated with physical therapy. Physical therapy can
help with a wide range of health problems and can use different techniques depending on the type and severity
of the disease.
